Float valves / v1 valves are productive to work when stream rates are evolving. The legs are given to keep up the launch of the valve to avoid weeping and to improve mass exchange even at low stream conditions.

For some exceptional cases, light and hefty valves are likewise utilized. The tray opening region for the floating valve tray naturally changes as indicated by the fume stream rate. It has a wide turnaround proportion. This tray is flexible, can be used for almost all services. These floating valve trays are available up to 6m diameter.

The float valve is a simple mechanical liquid level controller. It detects changes of elevation in the liquid-free surface and opens or closes a valve accordingly. 

Selecting the materials of the float valve is important. It could be made of steel, copper, or brass. Common materials are cast iron, carbon steel, or stainless steel. 

They are used in applications where higher turndown ratios are required. Due to their ability to control vapor flow, they provide a higher efficiency​.
